I’ve tried lots of different kinds of hair styling products that either where too expensive or didn’t work the way I wanted them to work.  I’ve got really curly hair that can get somewhat pissed off when I try to control it.  Where is the fun in curly hair if you can’t make it play pretty?  Most L’Oreal products are a little difficult to understand, especially when they are for combination hair.

Oops, did I mention the combination hair thing?

Ok, so my curly hair is long, and with most long haired curly hair girlies, one condition at the root and one condition at the ends.  Sometimes it mulitple conditions at the ends.  But conditioning is not the problem here, I’m trying to style.

One of the problems I have with styling is longevity.  In all honesty, a good styling gel or mouse will look and feel AWESOME for a few hours, but make that few hours turn into 5 or 10, then you’ve got problems.

Look, I can go out and ask again and again, from different sources, what to use, and have gotten some great ideas.  Most of those ideas turned out to be the 2 hour fix.  Until one day I’m talking to my bff whose sister is somewhat of a model (car shows, videos, etc) and she tells me that her sister usually comments about how well this one particular stylist gets her hair perfect for long shoots.

Well, ring a ding ding and mister BAMF hair stylist Joel DeFranco tells me what product he particularly likes for longevity.  REDKEN!

Redken was first developed for model use, kind of like Kerastase, but all US of A.

He tells me to look up a particularly gentle gel that should be easy to use befor I try something more hardcore, so I try Redken Rewind Styling Paste.

After a week of trying the product, I’m impressed.  Using it style my hair either “freestyle” (wetting and forgetting) or with a blow dryer really produced a soft look that lasted a long time.  Very liitle buildup, and not sticky at all.

So the chichi recommends.
